Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE)
We are seeking a mid-level Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support Assessment and Authorization (A&A) and Continuous Monitoring (ConMon) activities, ensuring compliance with Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements across multi-level classification environments with diverse technologies and services.
At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a ISSE you will help to ensure and provides cybersecurity for the development of software application using Software Security principles and adhering to DoD IA and IT Standards for all DTRA Defense Stockpile Management Systems (DSMS).
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with other DSMS program teams, planning and create cybersecurity architecture and design documents for all DSMS cybersecurity architecture ensuring it is compliant with DoD and other organizational IA policies and guidance.
- Employing best practices when implementing security controls within an IS including software engineering methodologies, system/security engineering principle, secure design, secure architecture and secure coding techniques
- Developing cybersecurity architecture and design plans for communication and collaboration products, operating system platforms including servers, devices, management products, applications and overall security related to implementing these products.
- Providing security engineering support for accreditation of DSMS Networks
- Integrating cybersecurity expertise into lifecycle management, planning architecture and design management, migration and deployment, and system testing and implementation
- Researching, developing, testing, and documenting architectures and solutions for implementing new cybersecurity technologies to provide more seamless information collaboration and cybersecurity capabilities for the program and its user base.
- Developing and providing a criticality analysis of logic-bearing system components (e.g., hardware, firmware, and software) implementing, protecting, or introducing vulnerability(s) to each function
- Developing and updating mission criticality analysis(-es), vulnerability assessment(s), risk assessments(s), and identification and counter measurement implementation(s) for Mission- Critical Functions; ensuring updated assumptions, rationale and results related to the criticality analyses, vulnerability assessments, risk assessments, supply chain risk information, and risk mitigations are made available for Government review.
Assessment & Authorization (A&A):
Preparing and submitting Interim Authorization to Test (IATT) and Authority to Operate (ATO) requests with Plans of Action and Milestones (PoAMs)
Developing, maintaining, and coordinating required Body of Evidence (BoE) documentation for system assets
Collaborating across Technical Services and Security Services teams, as well as customer agency stakeholders, to ensure compliance
Tracking workflow for lien remediation/resolution activities and entering tracking tool updates
Evaluating system change requests and assessing both system and organizational risks associated with modifications
Continuous Monitoring (ConMon):
Executing ConMon activities within established timelines, including BoE collection and tracking tool updates
Conducting recurring reviews of system state and security posture to ensure that systems are being operated securely, and information systems security policies and procedures are being implemented as defined.
Providing recommendations for security control implementation and identifying necessary countermeasures or mitigating controls
Responding to queries and requests for security information and reports
Incident Response & Security Oversight:
Supporting investigations of security incidents and reporting findings as necessary
Assisting in the communication, implementation and enforcement of security policies and plans for data, applications, hardware, and telecommunications systems
Advising stakeholders on information assurance standards, dependencies, and emerging security technologies
Engaging with Enterprise Security Services tools (e.g., Trellix, ACAS) to track and remediate vulnerabilities and compliance deficiencies
