Our Infrastructure and Security team is the guardian of NZTE’s digital backbone. We’re looking for an experienced security focussed engineer who thrives on solving complex challenges, shaping secure digital environments, and protecting what matters most — the data, systems, and services that power New Zealand’s global trade.  
What you’ll do:- Lead the research, design and implementation of secure, scalable, and resilient digital security solutions. - Be the subject matter expert in cloud security, infrastructure, and Microsoft enterprise technologies. - Own and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures across NZTE’s digital environment. - Manage and respond to security incidents, risks, and vulnerabilities. - Implement and maintain integrations between platforms to enhance the cohesion and standardisation of security policy across the digital ecosystem for the benefit of the organisation. - Review, maintain, and standardise cross-platform security policy. - Monitor and manage infrastructure changes, ensuring minimal service disruption. - Collaborate across teams and with external vendors to resolve technical issues and drive continuous improvement. - Maintain technical documentation, roadmaps, and risk assessments. - Stay ahead of emerging technologies and trends, and bring that knowledge into NZTE’s digital strategy. 
Our Security Tech StackWe’re building with:- Security-first design principles for all solutions. - A focus on the Microsoft security suite. - Clever integrations between platforms to standardise our approach to organisational security cross-platform and automate where it makes sense. - The latest technology in a layered approach from major vendors in the cybersecurity space. 
What you’ll bring:- Proven experience designing and deploying solutions in the Microsoft ecosystem and other cloud platforms. - Strong understanding of cloud architecture, security frameworks, and performance best practices. - Keen insight into critical cybersecurity principles for the benefit of the engineering team and wider organisation. - A passion for secure, standardised, and scalable engineering and the ability to foster a security culture. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills – you’re a trusted advisor and mentor. - A continuous improvement mindset and the ability to solve complex problems with practical solutions. - Experience working in a corporate IT environment, ideally across global teams.
