YOUR ROLE

As an IT team member, you’ll play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing technology solutions that are the foundation of the world class customer service that our customers expect and deserve – now and in the future.

We are seeking an experienced Director of Microsoft Governance to develop and manage a robust governance framework for the oversight of our Microsoft 365 environment to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory frameworks. This role will be responsible for managing compliance, security, and risk management across Microsoft products, utilizing solutions such as (but not limited to) Microsoft Purview, Defender, and Entra ID and partnering with internal customers to promote, prioritize and manage new capabilities and enhancements within Microsoft Security products.

What you will be doing

Governance Strategy & Execution

  • Lead the design and execution of Microsoft 365 governance frameworks aligned to organizational requirements and needs
  • Collaborate with IT Security, Compliance, Risk, and other relevant parties to meet organizational requirements, such as maintaining data retention and information protection policies to meet legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage a small team, providing leadership, performance feedback and support to achieve organizational goals.
  • Maintain strong stakeholder relationships internally, as well as externally with Microsoft and other key suppliers
  • Define and enforce policies for Microsoft products, including, but not limited to, Copilot for Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, OneDrive, and Purview
  • Optimize Microsoft licensing, execute timely true-ups, and ensure readiness for enterprise renewals
  • Report on program status including risks, issues, and compliance through appropriate governance channels to the Microsoft Center of Excellence (COE) Leader and relevant stakeholders

Team Leadership and Collaboration

  • Lead, mentor, manage, and grow a high-performing team with expertise in Microsoft services.
  • Set clear goals, manage workloads, provide regular feedback, and oversee the professional development of team members.
  • Define hiring needs and participate actively in recruitment.
  • Experience in budget planning and management

Product Management

  • Develop strategic roadmaps for data governance, privacy, and compliance solutions utilizing Microsoft applications such as, but not limited to Purview, Defender, Entra ID, Intune, etc.
  • Oversee the configuration and maintenance of Microsoft Purview to ensure data governance and compliance
  • Manage Microsoft 365 compliance solutions, including data retention policies, labeling, and data loss prevention (DLP) for M365 collaboration services including SharePoint, Exchange, and Teams
  • Assist with the creation and/or maintain documentation for responsible technologies including diagrams, SOPs, Technical Security Standards, runbooks, end-user guides, and review recommended best practices to aid in continuous improvement
  • Regularly assess adherence to established policies and standards, and take corrective actions as needed (e.g., review CoPilot usage for potential compliance issues)

Change Management & Enablement

  • Work with IT and business stakeholders to manage M365 updates and roadmap alignment
  • Develop user enablement plans and communicate governance changes effectively
  • Drive adoption of secure, compliant M365 collaboration practices
  • Stay up to date with the latest Microsoft 365 compliance features and industry’s best practices.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related technical degree
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience with a strong background in implementing data protection strategies and solutions across Microsoft 365 Security and Modern Work technologies
  • Excellent communication skills across technical and business audiences
  • Professional Certification such as Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert, Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900), CISSP, or similar strongly preferred.
  • ITIL, PMP, or change management certifications a plus

The base salary pay range for this role starts at a minimum rate of $ 137,600 up to the maximum of $271,900. In addition to your base salary, you will also be eligible to participate in an incentive plan. The incentive plan is based on performance and the target earning opportunity is 20% of your base compensation.  The final determination on base pay for this position will be based on multiple factors at the time of this job posting including but not limited to geographic location, experience, and qualifications to ensure pay equity within the organization.
