The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of government cybersecurity policies and procedures, coupled with the technical expertise to implement and enforce them within cloud computing environments. This role demands a proactive individual who can provide hands-on security and compliance guidance throughout the system development lifecycle, working closely with Scrum Masters and product owners. This position may require privileged access and is subject to Department of Defense Manual (DODM) 8570.01-M requirements.
As an ISSE, you will be instrumental in ensuring the security posture of our information systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security requirements from the initial stages of development through deployment and continuous monitoring. Your responsibilities will include providing expert security guidance for systems being developed and implemented in cloud environments.
Responsibilities:
- Apply a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity policies and procedures relevant to government sector information systems.
- Provide hands-on security and compliance guidance to development teams, including Scrum Masters and product owners.
- Integrate security requirements into the system development lifecycle, ensuring compliance from design to implementation.
- Provide technical expertise in implementing security controls within cloud computing environments.
- Potentially manage privileged access to information systems in accordance with relevant regulations.
- Ensure adherence to DODM 8570.01-M requirements.
- Collaborate on the development and review of system security documentation, such as System Security Plans (SSPs), Security Control Traceability Matrices (SCTMs), Continuous Monitoring Plans, Incident Response Plans, and Access Control Plans.
- Advise on the technical implementation of security controls and best practices.
- Work with system requirements to ensure security considerations are addressed proactively.
- Assist in the development and execution of security assessments and vulnerability testing.
- Contribute to the development of Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) to address identified security weaknesses.
- Provide input to risk assessment reports and mitigation strategies.
- Stay abreast of emerging cybersecurity threats and technologies, particularly those relevant to cloud computing.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in any or all of the following technologies: Trellix Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), SentinelOne EDR, Elastic including Elastic/Logstash/Kibana (ELK) Stack, Gigamon Test Access Points (TAPs) and Aggregators, RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
- Demonstrated in-depth understanding of cybersecurity policies and procedures for government sector information systems.
- Sufficient technical knowledge and experience to implement cybersecurity policies and procedures effectively.
- Experience providing hands-on security and compliance guidance.
- Experience working with Scrum Masters and product owners within an agile development environment.
- Experience integrating security requirements into system development.
- Practical experience with cloud computing environments and their associated security considerations.
- Possession of an active IAT Level III certification as defined by DODM 8570.01-M.
- Must possess an active Top Secret security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with specific government cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., Risk Management Framework - RMF).
- Familiarity with security assessment tools and techniques.
- Experience with continuous monitoring and incident response processes.
- Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
The estimated salary rage for this position is $150,000.00 - $175,000.00, commensurate on experience and technical interview.
