Job Description:

The Head of Security Asia Pacific supports affiliates in elevating their security and crisis management level to ensure Airbus assets are well-protected and business impacts are minimised. Affiliates and their respective division remain legally responsible for maintaining a compliant security and crisis management level.

A region is a group of affiliates assembled around a Regional Hub, which is headed for security by the Head of Security Asia Pacific.

The Head of Security Asia Pacific liaises with security teams, crisis management officers and top management from all Controlled affiliates in the region to ensure that the region is empowered by a robust security and crisis management organisation and a mature and efficient security management system. Furthermore, she/he builds a network with external stakeholders from national government organisations (e.g. aviation authorities, security agencies), private institutions (e.g. security companies, suppliers) and public institutions (e.g. universities, academia), customers as well as regional security initiatives (e.g. collaboration activities, standardisation working groups).

The Head of Security Asia Pacific’s cross-divisional and cross-asset scope includes the following areas:

  • Security Governance;

  • Digital Security;

  • Physical Security;

  • Crisis Management (not limited to security-related crises).

Reporting operationally to the Head of International Cooperation Asia Pacific and functionally to the Head of Corporate Security Office, the Head of Security Asia Pacific has a cross-divisional scope and is responsible for:

  • Representing Corporate Security in the region;

  • Supporting affiliates in their implementation of security and crisis management;

  • Anticipating and  consolidating identified regional threats, security risks and incidents;

  • Tailoring and deploying the awareness action plan regionally, while fostering a global security culture;

  • Establishing and nurturing trust with clients and authorities with regards to Airbus’ regional security level,  in coordination with local security teams.

In addition, the person fulfilling this mission is expected to ensure representatives from all legal entities of the region and from all divisions are represented in security and crisis management decisions that may impact the region as a whole, to federate security and crisis management actors to ensure sound decisions are made by those accountable and responsible (from a legal standpoint/delegation of power), and to remain informed of security developments and other relevant current events in the region.

Representing Corporate Security in the region

  • Supporting the implementation of the Airbus Security strategy and associated sub-strategies (regarding digital & physical security and crisis management) with relevant stakeholders in the region;

  • Regularly reporting to the Head of Corporate Security Office on the region’s state of security;

  • Serving as a security advisor to the Head of Region;

  • Defining a yearly security roadmap to support the implementation of the security strategy and associated sub-strategies, in coordination with relevant Corporate Security and Division Corporate stakeholders;

  • Identifying and sponsoring the local implementation of company-wide security programs;

  • Ensuring buy-in from functions on security across the region (e.g., Sales, Procurement, etc.);

  • Entertaining continuous liaison with the affiliates, ensuring an efficient and optimal top-down and bottom-up flow of information throughout Corporate Security’s affiliate, regional and central levels, with regards to their five primary responsibilities aforementioned;

  • Overseeing the regional security and crisis management organisation, identifying resource needs and/or mutualization of security management capabilities;

  • Contributing to the development of security resources in the affiliates through an assessment of competence, collaboration with training providers and the deployment of airbus standards and best practices to ensure attractiveness and employee retention;

  • Managing the regional hub’s security and crisis management budget by forecasting budget needs, reviewing budget requests, participating in budget allocations’ arbitration  and finding synergies to optimise budgets.

Supporting affiliates in their implementation of security and crisis management

  • Promoting business security initiatives across affiliates (e.g. Security Maturity Assessment) and following up on their implementation; 

  • Advocating the adoption of security and crisis management directives, methods, tools and processes, supporting their deployment and following-up on their implementation feedback;

  • Supporting Corporate Security in monitoring compliance to security and crisis management directives, regional legal & statutory requirements and ensuring follow-up on collaboration with Corporate Security stakeholders.

  • Supporting the treatment of identified security risks and enablement of opportunities;

  • Collecting and communicating security audit needs and priorities for the region;

  • Facilitating introductions between Corporate Security auditors and their relevant counterparts in the affiliates for the planning of security audits as well as supporting their execution;

  • Supporting in the remediation of security audit findings;

  • Supporting business projects to ensure security risks are appropriately addressed;

  • Empowering the region in its crisis management posture (e.g., promoting awareness sessions, ensuring the proper deployment, readiness and functioning of crisis management teams);

  • Closely liaising with the Divisional Security teams who are responsible for the security operations in the affiliates across the region;

  • Closely liaising with the Divisional Crisis Management Officers who are responsible for the crisis management operations in the affiliates across the region.

Anticipating and  consolidating identified regional threats, security risks and incidents

  • Identifying Airbus’ footprint in the region and curating an up-to-date list of Controlled affiliates (e.g., security points of contact, main achievements and challenges)  and potential M&As

  • Identifying the stakeholders involved in security and crisis management activities in the region;

  • Assessing and reporting security threats in the region to Corporate Security and relevant local stakeholders;

  • Identifying and sharing region security regulations and supporting the company compliance;

  • Collecting and consolidating all security risks in the region and reporting them for all Airbus assets;

  • Ensuring security events are detected, reported, investigated, assessed, reacted upon and recorded;

  • Anticipating security incidents and escalating needs for support to Corporate Security;

  • Supporting internal / external legal investigations and authoritative measures;

  • Identifying and assisting in the conduction of security exercises with relevant stakeholders.

Tailoring and deploying the awareness action plan regionally, while fostering a global security culture

  • Ensuring the deployment and follow-up of Corporate Security awareness strategy and yearly plan in the region;

  • Promoting security and crisis management awareness campaigns and local initiatives to boost security culture in the region, targeting all of the affiliates’ personnel in the region (security stakeholders, business stakeholders, contract negotiators, etc.);

  • Identifying and escalating security and crisis management training needs and facilitating the training’s execution;

  • Creating and animating a formal and transverse network in order to exchange on security topics within the region including the setting up and leading of regular Regional Security Network meetings for discussion (cascading of information, gathering feedback or needs escalation, animating debate on relevant matter, consulting before decision-making, practice sharing, etc.);

  • Ensuring that appropriate recommendations are made, security decisions are taken and top management is involved in security matters within the Regional Security Steering Committee;

  • Creating and animating a formal and transverse network in order to exchange on crisis management topics within the region, setting up and leading of regular Regional Crisis Management Network meetings for discussion when needed, and ensuring that appropriate recommendations are made or decision taken;

Establishing and nurturing trust with clients and authorities with regards to Airbus’ regional security level, in coordination with local security teams

  • Substituting, when needed, local security teams in acting as a trustworthy point of contact to promptly and effectively respond to clients’ security-related inquiries;

  • In support to local security teams, engaging with clients through proactive communication and tailored security consultancy to build trust;

  • Contributing to Airbus’ prominence in the region by identifying and attending key business / security events, as well as being in the forefront of security trends and best practices;

  • Providing assurance when needed to clients and authorities with regards to Airbus’ compliance to regional and industry security regulations and standards;

  • In support to local security teams, address  clients’ and authorities’ concerns linked to Airbus and / or regional security incidents with transparent and effective communication

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Security, Business, Aviation, Engineering or related

  • At least 10+ years of experience in security or equivalent required, with at least 5 years of experience working in APAC

  • Security certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or CISA (Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency) preferred 

  • ISO 27005 Security Risk Management preferred

  • ISO 27001 Lead Implementer preferred

  • ISO 22301 Lead Implementer preferred

  • Ability to communicate in English and in a regional language fluently (spoken and written) to be able to liaise with stakeholders across APAC

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including an ability to build and manage relations in a multicultural environment with sometimes conflicting interests

  • Strong leadership skills, including an ability to convey a clear vision and manage challenges with a level-headed approach

  • High level of autonomy and proactivity

  • Strong entrepreneurial understanding

  • Knowledge of security risk management (methods and processes) and governance

  • Digital/physical security foundation skills

  • Demonstrated appetite for geopolitical fundamentals, stakes and current events

  • Ability to simplify and communicate efficiently.

  • Ability to travel internationally (20% of time)

  • Due to direct interaction with policy / rule makers and national security authorities, the jobholder must have the required citizenship when national clearances apply. The jobholder’s position and declaration also needs to be harmonised with Airbus Security top management and Airbus Governmental Relations staff. The jobholder represents Airbus and interacts with competitors and customers on aviation security matters.

  • The jobholder must be authorised to travel to Asia Pacific, as well as countries in which Airbus has a footprint in the identified region.
