The Team
Across our work in Science, Education, and within our communities, we pair technology with grantmaking, impact investing, and collaboration to help accelerate the pace of progress toward our mission. Our Operations organization provides the support needed to push this work forward.
Operations consists of our Brand & Communications, Central Tech, Finance, People, Real Estate/Workplace/Events/Facilities/Security (REWFS), Strategy & Operations, and Ventures teams. These teams provide the essential operations, services, and strategies needed to support CZI’s progress toward achieving its mission to build a better future for everyone.
The Opportunity
The position of the CZI Senior Physical Security Associate will require proficiency in the administration and operation of the Access Control System, Video Management System, Visitor Management System, as well as internal ticketing and scheduling systems. Responsible for identifying and mitigating physical security risk throughout the organization. This position will also require organizational and leadership skills required to ensure all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) of physical security vendors are followed. It is also recommended that a qualified candidate have a strong technical background and the ability to solve complex problems which may require engagement with multiple teams (both contingent and directly associated with CZI). This position will work with industry professionals and management to meet organizational goals as they pertain to CZI security. This individual will also develop, modify, and educate CZI personnel in the security/safety policies and procedures. A self-motivated and self-reliant individual. She/he must possess skills and abilities to effectively lead and collaborate with others, strong ethics and values based on integrity and trust, and values team-oriented outcomes.
What You'll Do

Physical Security Management: Assist with day-to-day management of physical security operations, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure a safe and secure workspace.

Vendor Management: Assist with oversight of security vendors, ensure compliance with CZI policies and procedures, and manage relationships.

Incident Response: Respond to critical security incidents, lead escalations, and execute incident response processes.Security Operations: Maintain security operation runbooks, interpret logs and reports, and drive process improvements.

Administration: Assist with management of security-related business plans, operating budgets, and inventory of equipment and keys.

Collaboration: Coordinate security logistics for special events and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
What You'll Bring
- Experience: 5+ years of physical security management/supervisory experience within a corporate work environment.
- Technical Proficiency: A solid technical background with hands-on experience in security technologies, including access control systems, video management systems, and intrusion detection systems.
- Leadership and Communication: Proven ability to lead and influence others, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey security information and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving Skills: A proactive and analytical mindset with the ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex security challenges.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: A strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and individuals.
Compensation
The Redwood City, CA base pay range for this role is $106,000 - $133,000 - $160,000. New hires are typically hired into the lower portion of the range, enabling employee growth in the range over time. Actual placement in range is based on job-related skills and experience, as evaluated throughout the interview process.
