An excellent opportunity has arisen at Boliden Tara Mines DAC for a Head of Section Mobile Maintenance role to join our team in Navan, County Meath. As a leading mining operation, our purpose is to provide the metals essential to improve society for generations to come.

Key Responsibilities:

           

  • To maintain the safe integrity of all Mobile Equipment & Systems to facilitate the achievement of the Mine Plan.

  • Lead and Manage the Mobile Maintenance section according to management directives and goals.

  • To maintain mobile equipment to the required availability at the best standard.

  • To maximize the utilization of manpower and equipment in his charge.

  • Effectively utilise the equipment and labour resources to achieve high levels of maintenance to support Mine production while maintaining a high standard of safety and employee relationships.

  • Planning, organizing, and directing the Mine Mobile Maintenance section.

  • Implementation and utilization of digital, automation and other new technology that will enhance productivity and safety.

  • Emergency response planning for the area of responsibility.

  • Making budgets and prognoses for the section.

  • The use of OPEX and CAPEX finance models.

  • Compile and analyse KPI reports.

  • Ensuring all Mine Mobile team KPI’s are achieved and intervening when required to bring performance back within expectations.

  • Support and coach direct reports including but not limited to performance management, disciplinary/grievance handling, and absenteeism/leave planning.

  • Management and development of own personnel including but not limited to training/upskilling, new hire and succession planning.

  • Management and development of new ways of working (pulse meetings, multiskilling, flexibility and value chain responsibility).

  • Develop and update SOP’s and RAs for own section.

  • Ensure all EHSQ targets are met and participate in day-to-day proactive EHS work.

  • Manage the sections compliance with policies, instructions, and regulations (both Boliden internal and legislative).

  • Other relevant duties as may be required from time to time

  • Ability to maintain the Mine Mobile Fleet in a safe and functioning condition to allow Mine Production to achieve their targets.

  • Utilisation of external resources when required – such activities must comply with all EHS and applicable legal requirements while ensuring that work is completed efficiently and within regulatory guidelines and projected deadlines.

  • There will be a requirement for this position to be available outside of normal working hours. A formalized standby roster will be agreed with the immediate manager and communicated.

  • Be a role model for Boliden’s core values demonstrate use of core values to drive continuous improvement).

  • Implement and measure appropriate EHS systems.

  • Responsible for the Mine Mobile Maintenance section, including but not limited to its long, short time planning, executing and reporting procedures, maintenance, costs, continuous improvement initiatives, HR and EHSQ.

  • Participation in external, internal meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of gathering information and networking on Maintenance technology.

  • Assist procurement during negotiations with suppliers and OEM’s.

  • Deputise for the Manager of Mining as the need arises.

           

Skills, Competencies & Experience:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent. alternative qualification.

  • Accredited mechanical/mobile apprenticeship

  • Significant experience, 10+ years, in a similar position in an underground base metal mine or similar heavy industrial background.

  • Familiarity with Mobile Maintenance Systems (Maximo) and previous supervisory/managerial experience or training is desirable.

  • Understanding, speaking, reading, writing and presenting in English.

Professional Skills/Competencies required

  • Education, knowledge and skills required for this particular position.

  • Detailed understanding of the Mining cycle.

  • Technical knowledge of a mining industry/Engineering field.

  • Good Leadership skills.

  • Champion change.

  • An ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.

  • Computer Literacy.

  • An understanding of maintenance protocols to include budgets and strategy.

Additional Information:

  • This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.

  • A degree of flexibility is required in line with operational needs.

  • Some international travel may be involved.
