Job Description

Commissioning Security Specialist

Are you ready to play a key role in one of the UK’s most exciting energy projects? We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about security, thrives in a collaborative environment, and wants to help shape the future of low-carbon energy at Hinkley Point C.

If you're someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with a wide range of teams, and making a real impact—this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

The Opportunity

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

As a Commissioning Security Specialist, you’ll be part of the Commissioning and Operations (CommOps) team, helping to ensure the right security arrangements are in place as we prepare for operation. You’ll work closely with the Construction Site Security Team and Commissioning Engineers to make sure everything is aligned, secure, and ready to go. This is a unique chance to contribute to a nationally significant project while developing your career in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Pay, benefits and culture

In addition to a salary of £54,000 depending on experience, we offer flexible benefits that support our employees’ physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing. Examples include: a market-leading company pension scheme, a bonus plan, health cover, electric vehicle leasing, mental health support and employee discounts.
We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you’ll support the CommOps Security Manager in delivering robust physical security arrangements that align with commissioning plans and identified risks. You’ll help define and maintain security standards and documentation, ensuring everything meets regulatory and site requirements.

You’ll also be the go-to person for commissioning security risks—working closely with other departments, providing advice on facilities and equipment, and helping to shape training for the wider team. Your work will be key to ensuring a safe and secure environment as we move towards operation.

From tracking progress against key milestones to acting as the day-to-day point of contact for security matters, your input will be vital in keeping the project on track and compliant.

Who You Are

You bring previous experience working within a heavily regulated industry working on security regulations and physical security systems, along with strong communication and organisational skills. You’re confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels and enjoy solving problems in a regulated environment.

Ideally, you’ll have a HNC or equivalent experience in a security-related field, and a background in implementing and assuring physical security systems. Experience in a high-hazard or project-based environment—such as nuclear, oil & gas, or manufacturing—would be a bonus. If you also have knowledge of cyber security or information assurance, that’s a plus, but not essential.

It would also be desirable for you to hold membership with the Security Institute, demonstrating your commitment to professional standards and continuous development in the field.

Join us and together we can help Britain achieve Net Zero.

Closing date for applications is Sunday 15th June, interviews will follow shortly after.
