THE POSITION
The Assistant Manager, Security Operations and Fan Experience supports the coordination and execution of security and fan experience functions for CSEC events and venues. The role leads recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management for security and fan experience teams while supporting the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), incident response plans, fan journey planning, and event operations readiness. This position also works cross-functionally to ensure seamless integration of security protocols and fan experience standards across CSEC.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- In partnership with security and fan experience team leadership, oversee, engage with, and continuously develop the part-time teams and contract security to deliver exceptional employee and fan experience at CSEC venues.
- Assist with building and implementing standard operating procedures (SOP’s) to achieve a high level of operational readiness related to security, safety, crowd management, and fan experience.
- Play a key role in identifying and participating in CSEC venues and events risk assessments. Contribute to developing mitigation strategies for crowd management, fan journey, and emergency scenarios.
- Act as a point of contact during events for escalated incidents involving fan behavior and code of conduct, safety concerns, or fan service issues.
- Assist the fan experience and security leadership teams in developing operating programs, resourcing, SOP’s, and training programs for the new event centre, Scotia Place.
- In partnership with other team members in the security and fan experience department, continuously develop, implement, and monitor security programs and initiatives to ensure the appropriate levels of security, safety, privacy, and recovery of security assets, including investigations, loss prevention, and commercial tenants.
- Overall management and administration of security systems (card access; camera surveillance; fire and burglar alarms; walk through metal detectors; x-ray detection; building keys).
- Proactively lead or assist with internal investigations and fan service recovery, including reporting, compiling, and filing all health, safety, venue, and property issues.
- Provide security and fan experience subject matter expertise and collaborate with all internal CSEC departments and external stakeholders such as law enforcement, medical, government agencies, and Stampede Park.
- Assist with developing, managing and administering annual security and fan experience capital and operational budgets, payroll and invoice payment systems.
- Rotate in Event Command roles as duty manager, dispatch, or CTV operator during events at CSEC venues.
- Other duties as assigned.
THE INDIVIDUAL
The ideal individual will have the following background:
- 2-3 years of progressive experience in security, event operations, or fan experience/customer service, preferably in a sports or entertainment environment.
- 2-3 years' experience supervising part-time employees.
- Administration skills and adaptability with computer operating software and systems are required.
- Knowledge of AGLC regulations; Criminal Code; National and Provincial Building and Fire Codes is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and collaboration-focused skills.
- Schedule flexibility to work evening and weekend shifts.
CERTIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary degree/diploma/designation in a security, events or fan experience field is an asset.
- Standard First Aid, CPR and AED certification is considered an asset.
