Job Description

Responsible for overseeing assigned accounting audits and/or projects.  Reviews and analyzes the effectiveness of the audits assigned, manages/approves the related audit work, and provides guidance to others assigned to the audits and to related bank management, as needed. Responsible for reporting results on each assigned audit and ensuring adequate corrective action is taken on cited issues.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Oversee the day-to-day audit operations for the accounting area and keeps assigned Audit Programs current.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting to ensure the reliability and accuracy of financial data.
  • Ensure the balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, and other various financial records are presented fairly and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Contributes to the development of comprehensive audit programs for the accounting department.
  • Continuously works to identify areas of risk that may require stronger controls and to prioritize audit steps and test plans.
  • Effectively validates and documents remediation plans and improvement opportunities and collaborates with process owners to develop practical recommendations.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of 404 internal control related to IT.
  • Work with the Audit Manager, Sr. on assigning appropriate staff and resources as well as keeping the Audit Manager, Sr. current on the status of all audits being conducted.
  • Manage the audit relationships and requests to ensure audit data is provided on time.
  • Perform higher-level / risk audit work.
  • Report audit results.
  • Ensure adequate resolution to cited audit issues and updating the Exception Tracking Reports.
  • Supervise and motivate the audit staff when assigned to them, including completion of performance reviews, annual goals, career development plans, professional development and time reporting.

 

Qualifications

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; direct experience in Audit may be substituted
  • Minimum of six (6) years of professional work in Audit is required
  • Experience in the Banking/Financial Services industry is required
  • Project/program management experience is preferred
  • CPA, CIA, CFSA, CRCM, CTA, CISSP or similar professional credentials are preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products required
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality is essential
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work under pressure, be a team player, and a self-starter
  • Ability to perform simple and complex mathematical calculations
  • Strong problem solving  and decision making skills
  • Strong organizational, time management and project management skills
  • Ability to work with and communicate with all levels of staff in a professional and mature manner. Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Limited travel may be required.
