Information Security Engineer - Akamai

We are looking for an experienced Information Security - Akamai, to lead the implementation, optimization, and management of our Akamai security and web performance solutions. In this role, you'll play a critical part in maintaining the security, speed, and reliability of our web infrastructure by leveraging Akamai’s advanced capabilities.

About the role

• Serve as a key technical expert for Akamai Security and CDN components, responsible for overall management, configuration, and troubleshooting.

• Design, implement, maintain, and prioritize Akamai security offerings (including App & API Protection, Bot Management, API Security, etc.) to defend against current and evolving threats.

• Provide expert support for high availability, top performance, and secure web applications and digital assets through comprehensive guidance on Akamai's edge delivery and security platforms.

• Create and enforce standards and best practices for usage of the platform and implementation of the controls

• Lead troubleshooting, performance tuning, and incident response for CDN, DNS, App and API Security, and other related platforms

• Find opportunities implementing Akamai and its tooling to enhance the security posture of the business

• Champion Information Security best practices and platform adoption across the enterprise, driving cultural awareness and proactive risk mitigation strategies

About you

• Demonstrated expertise in Akamai Security and Delivery platforms, including hands-on experience with Akamai Control Center, Edge DNS, Certificate Provisioning, Ion Property configurations, and App and API Protector.

• Strong experience with enterprise DNS management, including advanced routing, record management and modification, resiliency, and troubleshooting

• Deep knowledge of digital certificate management (SSL/TLS) and associated security best practices

• Experience implementing and tuning web application security controls (IP/Geo, WAF, DoS, bot management, etc.)

• Advanced understanding of modern web application architectures, including infrastructure, components, protocols, and routing.

• Proficiency in managing user roles, permissions, and access governance while maintaining least privilege

• Solid understanding of automation, scripting, and Infrastructure as Code principles (e.g., Python, Bash, Terraform)

• Strong troubleshooting skills and root cause analysis for DNS, CDN, security, and certificate issues

• Familiarity with web application development life cycles and DevSecOps practices

• Demonstrated track record of cross-team collaboration, technical leadership, and knowledge sharing

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical documentation and stakeholder engagement

• Exceptional self-management skills that enables independently developing, prioritizing, and implementing critical security projects with minimal direct supervision
