The Role

The Security Engineer is responsible for the integrity and stability of Connective’s Information security, which includes network devices, security appliances and platforms, SIEM and endpoints. This role is to maintain a vigilant approach to ensuring the protection of systems and data whilst ensuring that network services are fit for purpose and monitored with best practices.

You will be accountable for but not limited to the following responsibilities:

  • Investigating security incidents and managing the vulnerabilities in a timely manner.
  • Providing monthly reporting on security status and incidents.
  • Performing root cause analysis of recurring security incidents and applying best practice problem management processes.
  • Managing firewalls including maximising network performance, scheduling upgrades and reporting network status to key stakeholders.
  • Maintaining our internal security education platform.
  • Developing and maintaining new and existing documentation.

The Person

You are a passionate and results-driven with a proven track record of managing security and resolving issues. Your expertise in Windows Servers and Virtualisation Hypervisors (Hyper-V and Vmware) and supporting Palo Alto Firewalls will enable you to excel in this role. You thrive in a collaborative team environment and are self-driven to deliver solutions that exceed user expectations.

You will also have:

  • Tertiary Education in Computer Systems/Science.
  • Information Security Certifications.
  • Sound knowledge of the Essential 8 Maturity Model.
  • Working knowledge of security concepts, protocols, processes, architectures and tools.
  • Demonstrable experience in Internet & public cloud integration setting up and managing security & connectivity.
  • An understanding of best practice defence and the vendor and service provider community.
