Job Description

Job Summary: UFP Industries is a leading wood manufacturing company that produces, distributes, and sells a diverse range of value-added products used in residential and commercial construction, packaging, and other industrial applications worldwide. As UFP continues to expand, we are seeking diligent, intelligent, goal-oriented, and innovative interns to join our team and grow with us.

We are currently looking for Cybersecurity Intern to support our cybersecurity initiatives. The successful candidates will assist in learning detection and analysis methods, incident response, investigating phishing emails, and process documentation. The ideal candidates will be enthusiastic and eager to learn, gaining hands-on experience in cybersecurity and related technologies.

Location: Must physically work out of our Grand Rapids, MI location

Duration: Up to 6 months.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learning detection and analysis methods utilizing SIEM tools.
  • Investigating reporting phishing emails.
  • Learn and support incident response processes
  • Create process flow documentation.
  • Collaborate with various teams to investigate issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, network protocols, common attack vectors, in a predominantly Microsoft Windows domain environment.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and business-related software, including Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with security tools (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS) is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Proficiency in the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to interact successfully with all organizational levels and the public.
  • Previous internship or coursework in cybersecurity is advantageous.
