Cyber Security Analyst
Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand
Vector Limited
Job Description
Do Yourself a Power of Good
Want to work somewhere where you are doing good for the world, your community and yourself at the same time? Whatever your role at Vector, we’ll stretch you to find solutions for some of the world’s biggest challenges. And they don’t get much bigger than redesigning our energy future for a world of EV’s and home solar generation to help mitigate the impacts of climate change. If you want to do a power of good for yourself and the world, consider a career at Vector.
The Role
As a Cyber Security Analyst in our Security Operations Centre (SOC), you’ll help protect New Zealand’s critical infrastructure. Around 25% of your time will be spent identifying, investigating and resolving security incidents, while the remainder focuses on improving our security systems, protocols and risk posture.
You’ll work with a high-performing team of specialists across automation, incident response and vulnerability management, supporting threat detection and response across cloud, data, and operational tech environments.
This role offers the best of both worlds: hands-on operational security and proactive system enhancement — with rotating weeks focused on incident response and continuous improvement.
And just to note: this role doesn’t involve 24/7 monitoring — that function is outsourced.
Who We’re Looking For
A mid- to senior-level SOC Analyst with a degree in Computer Science, IT, Systems Engineering — or relevant equivalent experience
Skilled in firewalls (configuration and maintenance), web and email security, endpoint protection and SIEM
Proficient in scripting (Python, PowerShell and/or Go)
Experience with Akamai, Check Point, Rapid7 and AWS is a plus — as is exposure to control systems security
A natural problem-solver with a track record of taking ownership and seeing issues through to resolution
A strong communicator, comfortable translating technical information into everyday language and building trusted relationships with stakeholders
What We Can Offer You
Whether it’s the opportunity to work on globally relevant challenges, collaborate with leading tech partners, or make a real difference to Auckland and Aotearoa — there are plenty of reasons to choose a career at Vector.
We offer:
A stimulating, flexible work environment full of smart, supportive people
Hybrid working options and flexible hours so you can balance life and work
Health and wellbeing support
Family-friendly benefits
Ongoing learning and development opportunities
