We’re looking for a talented Data Privacy Compliance Manager/Counsel with a passion for critical thinking and problem solving to join our Global Privacy team. Reporting to the Americas Data Privacy Officer, you will assist with driving key data protection initiatives across Convatec’s global business. In doing so, you’ll join a talented and supportive Privacy Team and work closely with key stakeholders across the business, promoting a strong culture of handling and managing personal data sensitively and effectively.
With an increasing focus on adopting and developing AI, this role is also uniquely positioned to help build and shape Convatec’s Responsible AI Programme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support our Americas Data Privacy Officer to deliver the Privacy Team’s global strategy in Americas, by being the primary point of contact for the LATAM businesses and by monitoring legal and regulatory developments across the region, and advising on necessary adaptions and improvements to Convatec’s Privacy Programme.
- Serve as a Privacy expert for our Americas businesses and working closely with and advising businesses and clinical leaders, counsel, and other colleagues on all aspects of privacy, including performing Data Protection Impact Assessments, reviewing Data Protection Agreements/clauses, supporting supplier due diligence, marketing initiatives, embedding privacy by design into projects including IT projects, digital initiatives, responding to data subjects’ rights requests and data breaches.
- Support the Americas Data Privacy Officer in maturing the regional Privacy Programme to develop, refine and simplify scalable, policies, processes, and systems to protect the patient, Health Care Professional, and employee data we process whilst enabling the business to fulfil its mission of creating pioneering heathcare.
- Work with the wider Legal team to develop and strengthen precedents, playbooks and processes to streamline and supercharge the team.
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders, including LATAM Leadership teams and country managers, the Digital Solutions, Marketing, Compliance, Legal, HR and Information Security teams, advising on new projects, setting clear accountabilities and policies for data protection.
- Develop and deliver engaging and helpful training and awareness programmes.
- Monitor privacy and AI regulation and advise on required/desired adaptations and improvements to Convatec’s Privacy and Responsible AI Programmes.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Previous experience within a compliance, legal, audit, or risk function required with a solid focus in data protection matters.
- Demonstrable experience of leading on a range of privacy projects and issues
- Strong commercial acumen: able to take a pragmatic approach to legal risk and advise the business accordingly.
- Skilled at collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders across all levels of the business
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong team player, self-starter, and can-do approach; no job is too big or too small.
- Interest in technology and AI
Desirable:
- Prior in-house experience within healthcare
- Prior experience advising on AI matters including emerging AI laws and building AI governance programmes.
- Familiarity with data protection regimes (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, PIPL, etc.)
- Experience with data risk management and/or supporting audits from a privacy perspective.
Qualifications/Education:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
- Qualified to practice law (in Brazil and Colombia) or equivalent jurisdiction OR CIPP or equivalent data protection qualification and industry experience.
- Experience with Healthcare market.
- Fluent English level.
- Fliuent Spanish level.
