Idaho Power Company (IPC) — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for an Entry Physical Security Analyst to join our Corporate Security team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does an Entry Physical Security Analyst do for us?
With some oversight, the Entry Physical Security Analyst is responsible for assisting with designing, consulting, implementing, and executing Idaho Powers comprehensive company-wide physical security operations program. This role will focus on the operational development, execution, and management of Idaho Power’s Security Operations Center (SOC) and includes:
- Utilizing knowledge of security technology platforms and infrastructure to improve security operations
- Developing, documenting, executing, and maintaining SOC best practices
- Executing the access provisioning program; Responding to intrusion detection events
- Assisting with sabotage event response and reporting
- Developing and delivering training programs to facilitate understanding of SOC operations, controls, and processes
- Oversight of 3rd party SOC security force

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
Knowledge of:
- Security Operation Centers (SOC), Emergency Operations Centers (EOC) or Dispatch Operations
- CCTV platforms and video management system (VMS) configuration and operations
- Access control platforms and badge access system configuration and operations
- Asset protection as demonstrated by ASIS International
- Law enforcement agencies in the Idaho Power Company (IPC) service area
- Microsoft Office software and PC applications
Preferred:
- Genetec Security Desk and Mission Control platforms
- Utility structure and FERC/NERC compliance requirements
Skills in:
- Applying qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques to identify root and contributing causes to security events
- Alarm configuration, monitoring, and response
- Creation of automated workflows and response procedures for security detection devices and sensors
- Conducting security incident reviews and analysis reporting
- Security technology platform troubleshooting and problem resolution
Ability to:
- Maintain composure, execution, and professionalism under pressure
- Leverage, mature and advance technology to improve SOC operations
- Develop and optimize SOC best practices
- Learn, adapt, and grow new SOC software platforms used in the course and scope of the role
- Utilize technology to remotely monitor, respond and manage security incidents
- Develop and maintain positive cross functional relationships inside and outside the organization
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field
OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
- 1 year of demonstrated corporate security operations and/or technology experience
Preferred:
- 2 or more years demonstrated professional corporate security operations experience
- Security or emergency center operations experience
- Experience working with Genetec security technology platforms
- Basic understanding of security technology infrastructure and architecture
Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
Preferred:
- PSP, CPP
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working near other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The ability to respond calmly to and control situations where violent behavior may occur is also required. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position. This job may require the performance of additional tasks assigned by company leaders or management. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate for this position will be required to complete scheduled compliance training and submit to periodic background investigation as mandated by NERC. Must be part of an ongoing revolving duty schedule involving being on-call 24 hours a day/7 days a week for two weeks straight. Must be able to assist with external security risk assessments; respond to intrusion detection incidents; and assist with physical security testing/installations, etc. in potentially adverse or uncomfortable weather conditions. Position requires minimal travel, including overnight and occasionally out of state.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Works independently, under minimal supervision with general to moderate scope. Prepares and presents reports as needed. Works within a budget. Hours for this position would be from 8am-4pm Monday through Friday.
