The Role: Information Security Systems Engineer
To assist with ABP’s information security practises; To administer, prioritise, monitor and conduct business as usual Computer Security, Information Security and Cyber Security activities in line with the technical and business strategy and with Information Security industry best practice.
Accountabilities:
- Hands-on implementation, maintaining and upgrading of systems operations and controls;
- Recommend appropriate tools and enhancements;
- Maintain and improve procedures, technologies and methods used to protect digital files and computer systems against unauthorised access, modification or destruction;
- Make recommendations regarding potentials vulnerabilities or weaknesses in systems deployments, and design and implement remediations and improvements;
- Report systems related metrics when required;
- Provide evidence required for internal and external security audits or to help determine root causes of security incidents;
- Performing risk assessments and testing of systems identifying prime risks and limitations that may impact computer security
- Maintenance of a close working relationship with ABP’s incumbent security partner(s).
- Maintain, review and test firewall systems, antivirus, data encryption, cloud and other security measures in place;
- Define all activities necessary to meet service goals and objectives
About you:
You will have a keen interest in computer security knowledge, understand the latest threats and incidents in order to maintain strong defences. You will have the ability to work well independently or with a team and be available to travel and work at various UK locations.
You will possess a firm belief in the values of customer service and ABP’s core values of openness and honesty, teamwork and respect, along with the ambition to make a difference and exceed expectations.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- Current industry recognised security qualification (e.g. CISMP, GSEC, or a Level 4 apprenticeship in Information Security or above);
- IT technical background;
- Good communication skills for both written and verbal reporting;
- Ability to communicate and guide all levels of staff;
- Able to work independently with a strong bias to getting things done. Understand the true value to the business of meeting objectives and timely delivery;
- Willingness to travel around all ports and sites as required for specific projects and generally;
Desirable
- 5 years or more experience of working in an operational IT role with security tools;
- Working knowledge of ISMS, NIS Regulations, GDPR and ITIL.
