This position reports directly to the Global Chief Information Security Officer.  The Head of Cyber Threat Management (CTM) will lead enterprise-wide efforts to drive proactive resiliency against cyber-attacks through monitoring, analyzing, and assessing the threat landscape pertinent to ING Bank and driving tangible risk mitigation through engagement across business and technology units.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the ING bank CTM organization, with oversight for competencies including cyber threat intelligence, adversarial testing, vulnerability assessment, threat assessment, and Insider Threat. The Head of CTM will lead this organization in a matrixed environment. They will be required to understand the line of business needs and have the ability to work across the organisation to meet company goals while effectively managing risk. Related to this, they will communicate regularly with executive leaders and regulators, requiring the leader to articulate risk and risk mitigation efforts clearly and concisely.
  • Lead the strategy, development, implementation, and monitoring of the long-range plans and policies for CTM that are consistent with the strategic objectives of ING Bank, the CTO organization, and Global CISO. Be the thought and execution leader for leveraging the threat assessment capabilities within the CTM organization to drive meaningful cyber security risk mitigation across the enterprise.
  • Lead and evolve the function as the threat landscape evolves. This leader will build and maintain relationships with senior leaders across the company and will effectively leverage these relationships to empower the CTM team to drive meaningful risk mitigation at scale.
  • Drive organizational competencies focused on excellence in identifying risks to ING Bank, thoughtfully completing risk assessments encompassing risk, technology, and business inputs, and driving risk mitigation across the enterprise.
  • Establish priorities for CTM as well as manage the allocation of people, technology and financial resources to ensure that projects are completed within the committed time and budget and align to strategic objectives. Ensure budgets and schedules meet organization requirements and standards, approve budgets and projects, lead recruitment, manage and develop teams to maximize their collective contributions, motivate lower-level managers to maximize their contributions, encourage professional growth, and the achievement of CTM and Global CISO objectives.
  • Attract and retain key cyber talent and leverage that talent to identify and drive remediation of security gaps.

How to Succeed:

  • 8+ years’ experience managing an information security organization including subordinate managers and individual contributors across multi-site locations.
  • Extensive experience in leadership overseeing cybersecurity threat management programs.
  • strong ability to communicate complex technical, information protection issues and value/impact In simple terms to very senior business and technology leaders.
  • A high level of comfort working with ambiguity or uncertainty and converting information into quantifiable concepts.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to interact and communicate with C-level executives and regulators.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with an ability to manage numerous, competing demands from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills in a complex, matrix environment; able to gain support and cooperation and build effective business partnerships with all levels of team members to achieve results without direct organizational control.
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate and broker agreements amongst diverse, differing, competing, and/or conflicting perspectives/priorities.
  • A Master’s degree or higher in geopolitics and/or cyber security is desired.
