We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced senior security manager to provide regionwide strategic and tactical security management for our commercial life science properties in the Greater Puget Sound Area. The ideal candidate will be based out of the Seattle Area and be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive security strategies to safeguard assets, mitigate risks, and ensure the safety and security of all personnel and guests on Alexandria properties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough investigation, sound analysis, effective mitigation, and detailed reporting of criminal incidents, breaches, violations, and other security concerns.
- Oversee and implement vendor security force personnel, including armed and unarmed personnel, and advanced security operations.
- Conduct regular security surveys and risk assessments of Alexandria properties to identify potential vulnerabilities, corrective actions, and mitigation strategies.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for specialized security operations and rapid-response security personnel, including budget analysis and planning, and vendor contract execution.
- Design and implement physical security systems at all stages of property development and operations, including electronic access control, CCTV video surveillance, electronic gating, and software-based visitor management.
- Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and protocols in alignment with enterprise security strategies, initiatives, and objectives.
- Provide security briefings to senior leadership with proficiency in developing and conducting PowerPoint presentations.
- Develop the annual security budget in coordination with asset managers and manage operations and technology projects within that budget.
- Participate in meetings with current and prospective tenant executives and tenant security managers to communicate Alexandria security value propositions.
- Collaborate with property asset managers and members of real estate development teams to address security concerns and develop mitigation measures.
- Serve as a point of contact for security-related matters and provide guidance and support to regional market directors, property asset teams, and real estate development teams.
- Coordinate emergency response procedures and conduct drills to ensure preparedness to manage potential crisis events and incidents of workplace violence.
- Manage event security for private Alexandria events with high-profile guests.
Coastal Security Operations Center (CSOC) duties and responsibilities include:
- Coordinate integration and operation of the Greater Puget Sound Region’s technology, building management and physical security systems into the coastal security operations center.
- Assist other regional directors of security in the integration and optimization of technology, surveillance, and physical security systems into the CSOC.
- In the absence of the Costal Director of Security, act as command and control over CSOC personnel and liaise between outside Regional Directors of Security and ARE management for security incidents and threat mitigations.
- Support ARE satellite regions security project management to include CSOC integration, security design reviews for CSOC alignment and costal best practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
- At least 15 years of proven and documented success in public safety and security, preferably as a sworn law enforcement officer or special agent, with direct and practical private-sector experience in corporate physical security.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Security certifications such as CPP, PSP, or CISSP highly desired.
- Strong knowledge of security technologies, access control systems, and video surveillance systems required.
- Experience overseeing all aspects of vendor security personnel and contract processes required.
- Experience with life science properties highly desired.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
- Exceptional leadership, strategic mindset, mission focus, and commitment to operational excellence required.
- Proven ability to make quick, sound decisions under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances required.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Products, including Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and security management software required.
Ability to travel and work within a varying and flexible schedule to include obligations outside of regular business hours.
The expected base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $190,000 USD annually, plus annual discretionary bonus. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the consideration of many factors, which may include, but are not limited to: the individual’s knowledge, experience, education, qualifications, skills, job location, and the Company’s compensation practices.
