The Privacy Engineer at Blue Yonder plays a critical role in embedding privacy-by-design principles into the organization’s technologies, systems, and data lifecycle. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams including software engineering, data science, legal, and security to ensure products and services meet global privacy and data protection standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, CPRA).

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Privacy by Design:
    Integrate privacy considerations into system and product designs from concept through deployment, ensuring alignment with global regulations and internal policies.
  • Technical Implementation:
    Design and implement privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs), including data minimization, encryption, pseudonymization, differential privacy, and anonymization techniques.
  • Data Lifecycle Management:
    Develop technical controls and solutions to support data classification, access governance, retention, and deletion.
  • Product & Engineering Collaboration:
    Work closely with product managers and developers to review architecture, conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs/DPDAs), and support secure-by-default engineering practices.
  • Privacy Tooling & Automation:
    Build and scale tooling for consent management, data subject rights (DSR) automation, and policy enforcement across environments.
  • Incident Response & Risk Mitigation:
    Partner with security and incident response teams to evaluate and mitigate data privacy incidents and ensure appropriate remediation.
  • Auditing & Compliance Support:
    Provide evidence and technical documentation for internal audits, regulatory inquiries, and third-party assessments.
  • Monitoring & Reporting:
    Track privacy metrics, KPIs, and emerging regulatory requirements to continuously evolve privacy controls and practices.

What We're Looking for:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field
  • 3–4+ years of experience in privacy engineering, security engineering, or data protection roles
  • Deep understanding of privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA), data governance, and risk frameworks
  • Hands-on experience with PETs, secure software development, API privacy reviews, and privacy impact assessments
  • Familiarity with identity and access management (IAM), cloud security, and data flow mapping
  • Programming/scripting ability (e.g., Python, Java, SQL, JavaScript) to support automation and tool integration
  • Privacy certifications preferred: CIPT, CIPM, CIPP/US, CISSP, or CDPSE

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience in cloud-native SaaS or highly regulated environments (e.g., finance, healthtech)
  • Strong understanding of AI/ML data privacy implications and ethical data use
  • Comfortable bridging legal and technical teams, with excellent communication skills

The salary range for this position is $91,112.00 to $114,888.00 USD

The salary range information provided, reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data.  Minimums and maximums may vary based on location.  Individual salary will be commensurate with skills, experience, certifications or licenses and other relevant factors.  In addition, this role will be eligible to participate in either the annual performance bonus or commission program, determined by the nature of the position.
