The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end management of IT infrastructure, covering both cloud-based and on-premises environments. This role ensures the stability, security, and scalability of critical systems and services, contributing directly to business continuity and service reliability. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, monitor, and enhance infrastructure solutions that support modern application delivery and enterprise operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Design & Implementation:
Design, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing IT infrastructure solutions across cloud and on-premises environments, aligned with business and technical requirements.Collaboration with Development Teams:
Work closely with software development and DevOps teams to ensure infrastructure is optimized for efficient, reliable, and secure application deployment and lifecycle management.System Monitoring & Performance Optimization:
Monitor infrastructure health and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues to ensure high availability, disaster recovery readiness, and service continuity.Maintenance & Support:
Provide ongoing support, incident resolution, system upgrades, and enhancements to existing infrastructure components including servers, networks, databases, and storage systems.Security & Compliance:
Implement and maintain robust security practices, ensuring compliance with internal policies and industry standards, including access controls, patch management, and data protection measures.Technology Evaluation & Innovation:
Continuously research and evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies to drive innovation and efficiency across infrastructure operations.Reporting & Documentation:
Provide regular updates to management on system performance, incident metrics, infrastructure improvements, and risk mitigation strategies. Maintain accurate documentation of infrastructure configurations and procedures.
This is a hybrid position, requiring 2 days per week in the office located in Olaias, Lisbon.
Fluency in both Portuguese and English is required for effective communication with local and international teams.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the Infrastructure Engineer role brings a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and strong communication skills. We are looking for professionals who either possess the following competencies or are actively developing them:
Solid hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, as well as on-premises infrastructure built on Linux and Windows environments.
Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, routing, and switching.
Proficiency in virtualization and containerization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, Kubernetes, and Docker.
Experience with infrastructure automation and scripting using tools like PowerShell, Python, Bash, Terraform, and Ansible.
Understanding of backup and disaster recovery strategies, with exposure to tools such as Datto, as well as cloud-based and on-premises backup solutions.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
A proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement and adaptability in fast-paced, evolving environments.
Working knowledge of cybersecurity principles, industry best practices, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001).
Experience with security tools, vulnerability management, and threat mitigation strategies.
Ability to ensure secure configurations and maintain compliance across systems and platforms.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly document infrastructure processes, solutions, and technical guidelines.
Comfortable working both independently and as part of cross-functional teams.
Ability to train and support team members on tools and practices within the area of responsibility.
