Job Title: Operational Risk Manager (IT and Cyber Security - 6 months FTC)
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week
Salary: up to £60,000 FTE and benefits
Location: Flexible, we support fully remote or hybrid working from any of our UK offices in London, Cardiff, Durham, or Blackpool

The Team

The role is within the 2LOD Enterprise and Operational Risk team and will require the role holder to support the Director of Enterprise and Operational Risk in creating and maintaining an environment in which senior management and the business is able to operate in a sound and secure way.  

The role holder will have demonstrable experience of providing operational risk oversight, specifically IT and cyber risk oversight, in a financial services regulated environment or similar, and be able to advise senior stakeholders on the effective management of IT and Cyber Security risks.

Key responsibilities & accountabilities: 

  • Developing and implementing an independent oversight model for cyber and technology risks across Tandem Bank.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across all three lines of defence to support enhanced risk management.
  • Providing strategic insight and capability to identify and drive organisational preparedness for emerging threats relating to Technology and Cyber Risks.
  • Actively promote a positive and strong risk culture across the business.
  • Providing advice to the business on expected Technology and Cyber controls.
  • Develop a strong presence across the bank and support as needed in operational meetings, helping to promote a strong risk culture.
  • Provide 2LOD input to the wider Risk team, including consulting on key initiatives.
  • Support as needed to undertake policy reviews and create, develop and roll out training materials to help educate colleagues on technology and cyber risks.
  • Identify, investigate and resolve issues.

What we're looking for:

Essential:

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in Technology and Cyber Security.
  • Ability to hit the ground running and work well under pressure, at pace and prioritise work. 
  • Insight and capability to identify and drive organisational preparedness for emerging threats within Technology and Cyber
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across all three lines of defence
  • Proven ability to promote a positive and strong risk culture throughout the Business
  • Ability to form effective relationships and provide challenge
  • Adaptable and able to take on a wide range of tasks depending on the needs of the team.
    Excellent attention to detail. 
  • Strong communication skills, including the confidence to interact with and challenge senior stakeholders across the business.
  • Ability to appropriately challenge information and get to the heart of a matter. 

Desirable

  • Experience in risk management within a Financial Services Organisation
  • Strong understanding of Operational Risk Management Frameworks, end to end including Operational Risk systems, policies and Regulatory requirements.
  • Relevant professional qualification
  • Experience working at a digital bank. 
  • Understanding of Retail Banking products (mortgages, asset finance, savings, finance and treasury)
