Summary:
Strata Solar Services (SSS) is currently seeking a full-time entry level Compliance Specialist for our fleet of NERC-level solar plants and CIP Medium-Impact control room. This individual will be part of ensuring SSS’ ongoing compliance with all applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) regulations and NERC-related customer contracts. The role is primarily focused on Solar Plants that produce > 75 MW and connect to the transmission system 100 kV and above. Ensuring compliance results in helping to maintain the integrity of the entire Transmission Power Grid, while providing that system with renewable and clean energy. The role will report to the Director of Remote Operations & Compliance, and work closely with the Remote Operations Center Manager and other control room staff (Portfolio Leads & Operators).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Take part in Strata’s NERC Operations and Planning (O&P) and Cybersecurity Infrastructure Protection (CIP) compliance program, as well as compliance with any other applicable regulations and contracts
- Take part in CIP related discussions with the CIP Senior Manager and NERC Security Lead in the Strata IT department
- Assist in preparing compliance deliverables arising from NERC O&P and CIP standards such as:
- Monthly customer check-lists to meet any and all compliance obligations
- Actionable reporting to all stakeholders
- Internal Risk Reporting and action plans
- Develop & revise procedures/policies including (but not limited to) NERC standard revisions released by NERC which may become effective at a later date.
- Work with Operations & Maintenance to ensure activities are aligned with compliance and collaborating with engineering resources as needed
- Assist in development and delivery of trainings specific to the Strata Internal Compliance Program
- Identify areas of improvement relating to compliance reporting, procedures, training and assessments
- Support regular audits of procedures, policies, evidence, and software systems correcting issues with relevant groups across Strata Solar
- Provide the management team updates on the company’s compliance status under various NERC standards and contracts on a regular basis
Verify data historians are performing as expected after site maintenance and outage restorations
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree required (degree in technical/engineering field of study preferred, but will consider business or accounting)
- Strong organizational skills to document and track issues from inception to resolution
- Extreme attention to detail
- Demonstrates good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Technical learning ability
PREFERRED JOB SKILLS
- Work experience / interest in contract or regulatory compliance
- Work experience / interest in NERC regulatory compliance
- Work experience / interest in audits
- Ability to learn broad understanding of generation, transmission, and/or distribution power systems
- Ability to learn navigating SCADA environments
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Work is performed in an office environment and in the field. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist and lift up to 20 pounds.
