About the role

  • Execute the solution architecture design development for key projects through the application of architectural methods, standards and principles.

  • Define solutions architectures, high-level designs, and impact assessments for initiatives and/or systems in the Bank.

  • Take ownership of Architecture deliverables for Conceptual and Solution Architecture documents and ensure that they are agreed and endorsed by all stakeholders.

  • Work with analysts in defining business requirements, and work with subject matter experts (such as infrastructure leads, cloud specialists, architects, operators, developers, and business experts) to develop high level designs, in line with the enterprise architecture, patterns and practices. This may occasionally extend to assist with detailed design work.

  • Contribute to the maintenance of a central repository for models, standards, patterns, components and solution architectures.

  • Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders in scoping initiatives, ensuring they are scoped in accordance with architectural objectives and principles.

  • Contribute to improvement of the Information Technology Department's software development and architecture practices and processes.

  • Manage the expectations of business stakeholders, and promote the use of enterprise/ security patterns and practices.

  • Keep pace with technology, trends and practices and advise on their potential application in the Bank.

  • Provide technical guidance and direction so the architecture is implemented in accordance to design over the entire project/program, and manage changes by ensuring stakeholders are informed and in agreement to any changes.

  • Identify opportunities to achieve the RBA’s architecture objectives through deliverables and day-to-day tasks.

About you

  • Strong technology leadership skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, influence and persuade peers and senior stakeholders.

  • Understanding of agile frameworks, and capability to support agile project teams by providing advice and guidance.

  • Strong understanding of application development methodologies and infrastructure and network architecture.

  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.

  • Understanding of strategic and new and emerging technologies and their practical application.

  • Understanding of relevant models, notations and tools.

  • Strong understanding of alternate application architectures, development and testing methodologies.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure, with increasing emphasis on Cloud based alternatives.

  • Strong experience in resolving solution design and architecture contentions.

  • Sound experience in architectural disciplines across a range of complex projects and technologies.

Qualifications

  • TOGAF, SABSA/CISSP (for Security) Certified is preferred.

  • Tertiary qualifications relevant to the Bank or IT industry.

  • Certified in relevant business and/or technical discipline

About the team

At the RBA, Platform Engineering is key to automating the way in which we manage technology lifecycles. The IT Platform Engineering team maintains solutions spanning Cloud, CI/CD, DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, and automation services. We are focused on supporting the Bank's journey to adopt Cloud and Infrastructure as Code, technology automation, and maturing platform capabilities whilst also evaluating and onboarding new technologies to ensure technology solutions remain relevant, robust, and secure.
