Kurt Smith is an experienced information technology and cybersecurity professional with over 30 years in the field, dedicating the past 17 years to enhancing security in healthcare. As the Chief Information Security Officer at Vālenz, he focuses on integrating various healthcare platforms into a cohesive security framework, ensuring that critical healthcare data is protected while aligning application development and operational processes with business objectives.

Before his current role, Kurt served as the CISO for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), overseeing Medicare Part D, Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC), Payment Error Rate Measurement (PERM) programs, and commercial services at HealthDataInsights, which was later acquired by HMS (now Cotiviti). He has a proven track record of building and leading effective teams, prioritizing cybersecurity and compliance within the healthcare sector.
