Bio
Kurt is an accomplished information security leader with over three decades of IT experience, dedicating the past 17 years to enhancing security in the healthcare industry. As the Chief Information Security Officer at Vālenz, he focuses on integrating different platforms into a cohesive security posture. Kurt creates a company-wide shared uniform security strategy by proactively aligning with other leadership.
Before his current role, Kurt served as the CISO for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), overseeing Medicare Part D, Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC), Payment Error Rate Measurement (PERM) programs, and commercial services at HealthDataInsights, which was later acquired by HMS (now Cotiviti). He has a proven track record of building and leading effective teams, with a focus on prioritizing cybersecurity and compliance within the healthcare sector.
Kurt holds certifications as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and a GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC). He is passionate about fostering a culture of continuous improvement and staying informed about the latest trends and innovations in the cybersecurity landscape.
